DANBURY — Cellphones give nearly everyone the opportunity to make art from everyday life. With this in mind, The Gallery at Still River Editions put out a call for submissions this spring for cellphone photographs taken within Connecticut on any subject.

The gallery received responses from 70 contributors — most from around Connecticut, a few from New York, and one from New Mexico. Among those with works on view in the resulting exhibition, “Mobile Pics CT 2015,” are Sheryl Fatse of Sandy Hook and Andrea Zimmermann of Newtown.

The 127 photographs on view depict a wide range of subjects in an array of styles, including seasonally changing landscapes, portraits, animals, abstracts, and objects. Some are manipulated greatly, and others take a more direct approach.

The opening reception will be noon to 5 pm on Saturday, June 13 (also Connecticut’s 11th Annual Open House Day). In addition to refreshments and celebrating the opening of the cellphone exhibition, there will be demonstrations in alternative photo printing methods (Van Dyke Brown, Cyanotype, and hand sanitizer digital transfer) from 1 to 4 pm.

The exhibition will remain on view to September 25. Regular gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm, except holidays. The opening reception and regular gallery hours are free and open to the public.
