Ellwood Williams
Ellwood Williams, 74, of Newtown, died June 8, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Scranton, Penn., and was a longtime Trumbull resident before moving to Newtown.
He was an Army veteran who served his country proudly. Mr Williams held several positions in his working career, including a construction worker, a truck driver, and longtime employee of Hi-Ho D’Adarrio.
An avid outdoorsmen and champion skeet shooter, he participated in many competitions. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. However, his greatest passion was spending time with his family. He spent countless hours with his grandchildren, helping them with life’s lessons and taking them skeet shooting. He will be greatly missed by all who know him.
His loving mother Jewel Williams of Melbourne, Fla.; his beloved wife of 55 years, Elaine (Pirhalla) Williams; his four devoted daughters Michelle, Wendy, Anne, and Elaine, all of Newtown; his brother Adrian Williams, and his wife Mary, of Florida; six cherished grandchildren, Michael Voight, and his wife Danielle, Daniel Williams, Brittany Williams, Christopher Voight, Cody Williams, and his wife Jacqueline, and Gillian Ostrofsky; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews survive Mr Williams.
Friends are invited to attend his funeral services at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Road, Thursday, June 13, at 1 pm, with the Reverend Leo McIlrath officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may greet the family Wednesday, June 12, from 6 to 8 pm.
