Yale Summer Cabaret Will Participate In CT Open House Day

NEW HAVEN — Yale Summer Cabaret will participate in Connecticut Open House Day, the state’s first unified celebration of Connecticut’s fascinating world of art, history, film and tourism. The unique statewide event, slated for Saturday, June 11, is designed to broaden awareness of Connecticut’s exceptional cultural and tourism assets among Nutmeggers, and to encourage them to share their newfound discoveries with visiting family and friends.

The Summer Cabaret will provide a variety of incentives and programs on Saturday including tours of the facilities, a meet and greet with members of the creative team, and a ten percent discount on all single tickets to the 2005 season. To qualify for any Open House Day special, at least one person in each visiting group must show a valid Connecticut driver’s license.

The purpose of the value-added offerings, according to Managing Director Emily Gresh, is to “encourage Connecticut citizens to rediscover, or experience for the first time, the wealth of art galleries, theaters, museums, and other interesting attractions across our state.”

Each summer, Summer Cabaret holds within it the next generation of the country’s finest theatre artistsactors, directors, designers, playwrights, and theatre technicians.

The 2005 season opens with Georg Buckner’s Woyzeck (June 15-25), followed by a double bill of Frederike Roth’s Piano Plays and Peter Hanke’s Self-Accusation (both running June 29-July 9).

The second half of the season begins with the seductive and darkly humorous Pre-Paradise, Sorry Now (July 13-23), by Rainer Werner Fassbinder.  Bertolt Brecht’s famous Baal (July 26-August 6) will be the season’s final production.

The Summer Cabaret is one of more than 100 cultural and tourism organizations throughout Connecticut who have joined together to pay homage to the state’s colorful heritage.
