Shoe Drive Reminder
Shoe Drive Reminder
The Reed Interact Club and the Newtown Middle School Interact Club are down to the wire in their effort to collect sneakers to be shipped to the village of Jeremie, Haiti. The goal is to collect 1,000 pairs of new or gently used sneakers or closed toed shoes in all sizes to be shipped to a health clinic in Jeremie, Haiti.
So far the students have been able to collect only 300 pairs of shoes, however organizer Karen King a fifth grade teacher at Reed and an advisor of the Interact Club is optimistic that more donations will be made. Curtis Packaging has offered to donate one pair of socks for every pair of shoes donated up to 1,000 pairs. Anyone interested in donating shoes may drop them off in the lobby of Reed Intermediate School located at 3 Trades Lane in Newtown during school hours between 8 am and 3 pm.
