Rose Walk, June 19

Bethlehem — To continue the 2005 Historic Garden Walk series at Bellamy-Ferriday House & Garden, professional horticulturist Robin Zitter will lead a Rose Walk on Sunday, June 19, at 3 pm.

The event will honor Mitchell Van Winkle’s bequest to the Bellamy-Ferriday house of his “Rose Book Collection,” a collection of more than 1,100 books on the subject. Mr Van Winkle and his second cousin, Caroline Ferriday, shared a passion for roses, making the Bellamy-Ferriday House & Garden an appropriate repository for the extraordinary collection.

The garden walk will feature the Ferriday collection of many historic varieties of roses including the strongly scented Gallicas and Damasks, shrub rose, Moss Roses and Centifolias, as well as June blooming trees, shrubs and perennials.

Cost for the program is $5 per person. The property is at 9 Main Street (Route 61) in Bethlehem. For information, call 203-266-7596.
