Robert M.        Haggerty

Robert M. Haggerty, 80, husband of Grace (Kelly) Haggerty of Vining Road, Sandy Hook, died June 2 at his home.

He was born in Reading, Penn., on October 7, 1924, a son of the late James and Mary (Heaney) Haggerty.

From 1943 to 1945, Mr. Haggerty served in US Army Air Corps. Mr Haggerty was fulfillment operations manager for Grolier Inc until his retirement in 1990.

A resident of Newtown since 1971, Bob was an active member of St Rose of Lima Church and served for many years as an usher and currency engineer. He was a member of Virgilius Council, #185 Knights of Columbus.

In addition to his wife of 58 years, survivors include three sons, Robert Haggerty of Sandy Hook, Kevin Haggerty of Amsterdam, N.Y., and Christopher Haggerty and his wife, Elaine, of New Milford; two daughters, Diane Rein and her husband, William, of Amityville, N.Y., and Laura Martell and her husband, David, of New Milford; one brother, William Haggerty of North Carolina; and one sister, Sarah Myatt of Long Island, N.Y. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services were held June 6 from the Honan Funeral Home, Newtown, and in St Rose of Lima Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment followed in St Rose Cemetery.
