Newtown Lions Club Presents Trull Award
Newtown Lions Club Presents Trull Award
Each year the Newtown Lions Club presents the Trull Award to an outstanding, 11th grade boy and girl. The Trull Award is named after the first president of the Newtown Lions Club.
Newtown High School junior John Ciaccio was chosen to receive the Trull Award this year. According to his teacher Cate Brainard, John is an exemplary student who possesses a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, a talent for art and, more importantly, a great sense of humor. In addition to his exceptional academic performance, John spends many hours a week volunteering at Ashlar, speaking fondly of the residents with whom he spends time. John is a well-rounded individual who serves as a role model for his peers by working hard at all he does, and having fun in the process.
Karli Beitel was chosen to receive the girl Trull Award because of her outstanding academic performance and her impressive other activities and interests. She is an honors student that is currently enrolled in several AP classes and some honors courses. Her teachers say she is always challenging herself.
Additionally, Karli is involved in sports and has been on both the cross-country and lacrosse teams. She is captain of the lacrosse team. Karli also volunteers at Danbury Hospital, tutors students after school, is a voracious reader, a dynamite cook, and plays the piano.
Karli is well respected by her classmates and teachers. She is practical, organized, and has a seriousness in her purpose to exceed to the highest level possible. Karli aspires to work in the medical profession some day either as a researcher or doctor. For these many accomplishments the Newtown Lions Club chose Karli to be one of this yearâs recipients of the Trull Award.
