New Morning Will Host Its
Sixth Annual Benefit Ice Cream Social
WOODBURY â On Friday, June 24, from 5 to 8 pm, New Morning Store will host its Sixth Annual Ice Cream Social, a benefit event for all ages.
Visitors will be invited to make sundaes with natural and organic ice cream, low fat frozen yogurt, non-dairy Soy Delicious, and vegan Mango Sorbet, topped off with real fudge sauce and thick, store-whipped, fresh cream.
There will be live harp music compliments of Julie Shrake.
There will also be a pair of benefit performances by the actor, director and mask-maker Larry Hunt. Mr Hunt, who uses original masks and puppets in his shows and has performed original works under the auspices of his international touring company Masque, will be performing 20-minute shows at 6 and 7:15 pm.
Admission is a $5 donation. All of the money collected will be given to Safe Haven, an emergency shelter and free supportive service for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in the Southbury and greater Waterbury areas.
New Morning will also be accepting donations of household supplies, personal care and paper products during the ice cream social. In addition to traditional donations of canned goods, a âwish listâ for Safe Haven has been shared with New Morning and includes gift cards for food or clothing, canned juice, linens (large bath towels, twin sheets, wash cloths, pillowcases and/or pillows), disposable diapers, towels, toilet paper, journals, liquid laundry detergent, soaps and cleansers, razors, shampoo and conditioner.
