Moving Violations

At about 6:19 am on June 3, while using radar equipment on Mile Hill Road, police stopped motorist Jonathan Judge, 23, of Danbury for traveling unreasonably fast.

On investigating, police charged Judge with traveling too fast and with driving while under suspension.

After he posted $250 bail, Judge was released for a June 16 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Burglary/Larceny

Sometime between 6 pm June 1 and 10:30 am June 2, someone illegally entered a detached garage at a residence on Berkshire Road, near Toddy Hill Road, and stole numerous construction tools, police report.

The crimes committed are third degree burglary and third degree larceny. Third degree larceny involves the theft of between $1,000 and $5,000 of goods.

Police are investigating and ask anyone with information on the incident to contact them at 426-5841, or at 270-8888.

Truck Vs Deer

On the morning of June 2, motorist David A. Lewis, Jr, 33, of 9 Bear Hills Road, who was driving a 2005 Ford F-250 pickup truck, collided with a deer on Route 302, near Scudder Road, police said. Lewis was not injured. No enforcement was taken.

Bridgeport Man

About 7:24 pm on June 2, police stopped motorist Ricardo Murillo, 24, of Bridgeport on South Main Street because he was spotted traveling without working brake lamps. Police charged Murillo with failure to have functioning brake lamps and with driving while under suspension. After he posted $100 bail, police released Murillo for a June 16 court appearance.

Marijuana

Police said they were called to Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street on a complaint concerning suspicious activity there about 3:30 am June 5.

Police said they investigated and charged Daniel Pister, 19, of 12 Echo Valley Road with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana. Following the arrest, police released Pister on a written promise to appear June 21 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charge.

Huntingtown Bicycle

Police said this week they are holding for safekeeping bicycle that was found alongside Huntingtown Road. The owner of the bicycle may claim it by contacting police at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841. Sergeant Darlene Froehlich is in charge of found property.

Six Charges

Police said they arrested a Danbury man on six charges on the afternoon of June 4, following a motor vehicle incident.

Police said motorist Michael Young, 21, of Danbury allegedly harassed another motorist by following that motorist too closely. Young then allegedly became verbally abusive to the other motorist and threw an empty water bottle at him at the intersection of Sugar Street and Main Street, near the police station, police said.

Following that, Young then allegedly again followed the victim in a harassing manner, police said.

On investigating, police charged Young with following with the intent to harass, breach of peace, driving an unregistered motor vehicle, improper use of a marker plate, failure to have automotive insurance, and failure to update an address on a driver’s license.

After processing Young’s arrest at the police station, police released him from custody on $250 bail. Mr Young will be arraigned on the six charges June 21 in Danbury Superior Court.

Five Charges

While they were conducting a seatbelt usage check on Church Hill Road about 5 pm June 1, police spotted motorist Adam Soares, 41, of Waterbury fail to yield to a pedestrian who was in a crosswalk, police said.

On investigating, police charged Soares with failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, failure to wear a seatbelt, driving without automotive insurance, driving an unregistered vehicle, and driving while under suspension.

After processing his arrest, police released Soares on $250 bail for a June 16 court appearance.For police reports

Motor Vehicle Charges

Police report that they stopped motorist Tori Skovron, 46, of Easton on South Main Street after they learned that she was driving while under suspension.

Police charged Skovron with driving while under suspension and failure to notify the state Department of Motor Vehicles of an address change. Police released Skovron for a June 23 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Church Hill Road

While on patrol about 7 pm on June 6 on Church Hill Road, police noticed that motorist Lisa Garamella, 35, of 138 Underhill Road was driving a vehicle that had no front marker plate, so they stopped her to investigate.

Police charged Garamella with misuse of a marker plate, driving while under suspension, and failure to carry automotive insurance.

Police released Garamella on a promise to appear June 23 in Danbury Superior Court.

Warrant

Early on the morning of June 7, Bridgeport police detained Richie Ortiz, 33, of Bridgeport after learning that Newtown police held an arrest warrant for him.

Newtown police transported Ortiz to the Newtown police station where they charged him with two counts of illegal use of a credit card and two counts of sixth degree larceny. The charges stem from Ortiz’s alleged use of another person’s credit card without authorization, police said.

Police held Ortiz on $250 bail for a court appearance later that day.

Swamp Road

Motorist Matthew Kearney, 21, of Easton, who was driving a 1998 Nissan Maxima sedan northward on Swamp Road about 11 pm June 6, lost control of the vehicle and went off the right side of the road, police said.

Neither Kearney, nor passenger Mathis Cooper, 21, of Easton, were injured, police said. Both were wearing seatbelts, police said.

Police issued Kearney an infraction ticket for making a restricted turn and also a written warning for failure to carry an automotive insurance identification card.

MV Charges

On the afternoon of June 6, police stopped motorist Brian Mitchell, 45, of New Milford to investigate and charged him with traveling too fast and with driving while under suspension. After he posted $100 bail, police released Mitchell for a June 21 court appearance.

Graffiti

Police report that someone vandalized two South Main Street businesses by using spray paint to deface their exterior walls.

Police learned about 4:30 am June 7 that someone had vandalized the walls at Newtown Pools at 127 South Main Street and at Newtown Self-Storage at 137 South Main Street. The vandal also spray-painted the windshield of an auto parked outside Newtown Pools, police said.

The crime is first degree criminal mischief, representing more than $1,500 worth of damage.

Anyone with information on the vandalism is asked to contact police, who are investigating.

Juvenile Sex Assault

Based on a complaint that they received early this year, police on June 8 arrested a 15-year-old boy on a warrant, charging him with first degree unlawful restraint, fourth degree sexual assault, and risk of injury to a minor.

Police provided no details on the nature of the incident which prompted the criminal charges.

After processing the boy’s arrest, police transported him to a juvenile detention center in Bridgeport, where he was held for a June 9 arraignment on the charges in Danbury Juvenile Court.

Because the boy is under age 16, his identity is shielded by state law.

DUI Accident

Police report that motorist Joshua Paradiso, 25, of Stratford was driving a vehicle on Sugar Street about 10 pm June 8, when he drove onto the wrong side of the road on a curve and collided with an unidentified oncoming motorist.

That injured oncoming motorist was transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment of back and neck injuries, police said. Details on the nature of the accident, including the identity of the injured person, were not available.

On investigating, police arrested Paradiso on charges of driving under the influence and driving to the left on a curve. After processing Paradiso’s arrest, police released him on $60 bail for a June 23 court arraignment on the charges.
