In a battle of titans, the Newtown Middle School softball team blanked previously-undefeated Swift Junior High School of Watertown, 7-0, to improve to 11-0. Jenna Legros and Nora Lynn Shimko combined for 16 strikeouts.

In a battle of titans, the Newtown Middle School softball team blanked previously-undefeated Swift Junior High School of Watertown, 7-0, to improve to 11-0. Jenna Legros and Nora Lynn Shimko combined for 16 strikeouts.

Marley Koschel tripled while Christine Beck, Emily Kluga and Caitlin Cosgrove banged out two hits apiece. Bowen, Legros, Shimko, and Kaila Harrington all hat hits.

Laura Newberry and Kate Bowen played exceptionally well in the field.

The Lady Lions broke open a scoreless game with five runs in the top of the third and then tacked on two more in the top of the fifth.

In other action, the Lady Lions blanked Rochambeau, 11-0, as Legros tripled and Rachel Ruiz singled twice, doubled and scored three runs.

Megan Sajovic singled three times and scored three runs while Shimko singled three times and scored twice. Ashley Kuligowski added a pair of hits while Harrington singled and scored.

On the rubber, Bowen whiffed the first eight batters she faced and finished with 15 strikeouts.

In a 15-1 win over Bethel, the Lady Lions scored seven runs in the bottom of the third to break open a close game. They tacked on five more in the bottom of the sixth.

Sajovic singled three times, scored three times, and drove in a run while Legros singled twice and drove in four runs. Harrington contributed a triple.

In a 7-3 win over Memorial, Kuligowski had a pair of singles, three stolen bases, and an RBI as the Lady Lions scored six of their seven runs in the final three innings
