Hawleyville Postmark To Support Breast Cancer Research
Hawleyville Postmark To Support Breast Cancer Research
The Hawleyville Post Office will issue a commemorative postmark in honor of breast cancer research on Saturday, June 11.
Hawleyville Postmaster Mark J. Favale said that customers purchasing a book of breast cancer research stamps will be given a âCircle of Hopeâ to sign and display. The Circle of Hope began as a small marketing campaign to create awareness through the postal service for its workers and customers, and it has spread throughout the country.
âPurchasing the breast cancer research stamp is probably the easiest way to raise funds for breast cancer research and a highly visible way to raise awareness,â Postmaster Favale added. Since the July 1998 release of the BCR semipostal stamp, more than 565 million have been sold nationwide, generating $40.8 million for research.
The unique postmark, created by Postmaster Favale and designed by Barto Engraving of Brookfield, is free. The Hawleyville Post Office will apply it to any item bearing first-class postage from 8 am to noon, on Saturday, June 11. To order the postmark by mail, write to Circle of Hope Station, Postmaster, PO Box 9998, Hawleyville CT 06440-9998. Enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope for return. Mail order requests must be postmarked no later than July 11.
