To the Editor:

There simply aren't enough words to express our gratitude to all who helped make Catherine's Butterfly Party a success on Saturday, June 6. Over 2,000 people attended along with a wonderful array of vendors, sponsors, rescue organizations and educational groups. We are so grateful to the community for supporting this event and helping us build a sanctuary of peace and compassion for all creatures, great and small.

Every year, we would ask Catherine how she wanted to celebrate her birthday and she would always request an “all the animals” party. This year, we believe her wish came true. Thanks to the success of the Super Adoption, 17 dogs and cats went to their forever homes, 13 animals have adoptions pending and lots of new fosters have been added. In addition, the ASPCA presented the Catherine Violet Hubbard Foundation with a $50,000 grant to support the Sanctuary.

But perhaps the biggest thank you of all came from a beautiful and unexpected source. During the event, an upside down rainbow, a special smile from above, graced the sky – Catherine's thank you shined bright and without question.
