Michael Sedor, 98, of Newtown died quietly at home June 7. He was a lifelong resident of Newtown and was born in 1915, in the farmhouse on Currituck Road.

One of 13 children, he was on his own from an early age and enlisted with the US Army during World War II. During this time, Mr Sedor was one of the soldiers to participate in the D-Day invasion of Normandy, France.

After being discharged from the Army, he settled down to raise a family and to run a successful horticulture business. He retired in 1979 and took a caretaking position on an estate that lasted for 30 years.

He was truly blessed by a long and healthy life.

His son-in-law, Glenn Adams of Bridgewater; a grandson, Jason Adams of Sandy Hook; and one great-grandson survive Mr Sedor.  His wife, Frances Sedor, and his daughter, Elizabeth Anne Adams, predeceased him.

Funeral services will be private, with a memorial to be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
