Seniors May Still Enroll In Part D Plans

The May 15 deadline has come and gone but seniors eligible for extra help subsidies can enroll in a Medicare Part D plan at any time this year.

The Extra Help Subsidies are designed to assist with the payment of premiums, deductibles, and co-pays, and prevent the coverage gap known as the “donut hole.” Individuals on Medicare and Medicaid, on a Medicare Savings Program, receiving Supplemental Security Income, or people with limited income and assets may qualify for one of these full or partial subsidies.

To apply for the subsidy contact the Social Security Administration at 800-772-1213 or go online to www.sss.gov/PrescriptionHelp.

For more information on the subsidies, contact the Choices programs at the local Area Agency on aging at 800-994-9422.
