Painting With Egg Tempera, At Next SCAN Meeting
Painting With Egg Tempera, At Next SCAN Meeting
The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will have Laura Eden of Granby demonstrating in egg tempera on Wednesday, June 14, at 7:30 pm. This meeting is open all and will be held at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street, in the lower meeting room.
Ms Eden studied art at Syracuse University and the University of Connecticut, receiving her BFA from UConn in 1980. She has been the recipient of various awards beginning in college receiving âThe Most Promising Freshmen Awardâ from Syracuse University.
She has been a member of both Connecticut Watercolor Society and Connecticut Women Artists, receiving awards from both.
Ms Eden has been in dozens of solo and group exhibitions. Her work can be found in numerous corporate collections including Otis Elevator, United Technologies Corporate, Kaiser Permanente, Aetna Life and Casualty, Cigna and the Travelers Insurance to name a few. Her work has been collected by over 1,000 private and corporate collectors throughout the US and abroad.
After being a full time watercolorist for 22 years Ms Eden switched mediums to egg tempera in 2002. Her intimate, detailed view of nature lends itself perfectly to this medium.
Of her work, Ms Eden says: âMy paintings are meant to trigger daydreams. They are a response to quiet moments spent in natureâs grasp. Recalling a familiar feeling of place, they at the same time, show the viewer a more intimate, exaggerated perspective. Through my work I try to evoke a refreshing response to the commonplace.âÂ
The public is invited for the unusual demonstration of an age-old painting medium that is becoming popular again.
