Long Wharf Announces
Most Of Its 2006-07 Season
NEW HAVEN â Long Wharf Theatre has lifted the curtain on its plans for the 2006-07 season, which will include two world premieres, a re-imagined musical, and an American classic.
Long Wharf Theatre will open its seven-play season with the return of playwright Julia Cho and the world premiere of her latest work, Durango, which will travel to New Yorkâs Public Theater later in the season. The New Haven presentation will be on Long Wharfâs Stage II, September 13 to ÂOctober 15.
Clifford Odetsâ classic love story, Rocket to the Moon (directed by Daniel Fish), will be a Mainstage presentation October 25 to November 19, and the irreverent comedy of David Sedarisâ The Santaland Diaries round out the fall schedule with a run scheduled for November 29 to December 31.
An as-yet- announced production will open the Mainstage in 2007, January 10 to February 4.
A fresh interpretation of Dale Wassermanâs Man of La Mancha, directed by Charles Newell, will open in the spring (February 21-March 18), and Long Wharf Artistic Director Gordon Edelstein will direct a commissioned piece written and performed by David Cale and Dael Orlandersmith. The world premiere is expected to run March 28 to April 29. The final Mainstage production of the season will run May 9 to June 3; that production has yet to be decided.
Among the special events for the season will be the return engagement of Langston Hughesâ soul-stirring hit Black Nativity, and Long Wharf Theatreâs highly successful Jazz on the Wharf Series.
