Barnum Museum Extended Hours
Barnum Museum Extended Hours
BRIDGEPORT â Through September 28, The Barnum Museum will be open on Thursdays until 7 pm.Â
âThis initiative to stay open until 7 pm one day a week is part of a citywide effort to have more attractions and activities available in downtown Bridgeport, especially when Arena at Harbor Yard hosts events or the Bluefish are playing at their stadium,â explained Executive Director and Curator Kathy Maher. âWe are located close to virtually everything and now those visiting downtown Bridgeport for an event can also stop in and experience the wonders of the museum and learn about P.T. Barnumâs influences on our city, state and the nation.â
As added incentive for visiting, the Barnum Museum will give anyone showing their Bluefish ticket for that dayâs game $1 off the regular price of admission.
The Barnum Museum has three floors of exhibits that illustrate the extraordinary life of Phineas Taylor Barnum. A one-term mayor of Bridgeport and four-term member of the Connecticut General Assembly, P.T. Barnum was born July 5, 1810, in Bethel and died April 7, 1891 in Bridgeport.
In addition to its late Thursday hours, the museum, located at 820 Main Street, is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10 am until 4:30 pm, and Sunday from noon to 4:30 pm. Regular admission is $5 for adults, $4 college students and and senior citizens, $3 ages 4-17, and free for ages 3 and under and museum members.
