A Perfect Day For A Walk-A-Thon
A Perfect Day For A Walk-A-Thon
To the Editor:
May 31 was a picture perfect day on Taylor Field at Hawley School. Students, parents, and staff held a Walk-A-Thon for Abbi Winters, a third grader at Hawley School who is being treated for neuroblastoma, a rare form of childhood cancer.
This event was made successful in part by donations from Big Y, which made it possible for all of the students to enjoy a treat after their walk. Newtown Florist and Melillo Fresh Art Florist in Danbury provided balloons, which helped to make Taylor Field look so festive. Staples provided the pledge envelopes. A special thank you to Girl Scout Troops 154, 763, and 138 who helped assemble the pledge envelopes and the necklace tags which were used by the students to log their laps around the field.
A special thank you to all the parent volunteers, students, and staff who helped to make the Walk-A-Thon an enormous success and help demonstrate what we can accomplish when we all pull together for a common cause.
The best part of the entire day was when Abbi arrived and was able to stay and watch her fellow students walk around the field. It made us all feel proud to be a part of the Hawley family.
