SHOP Beer & Wine Tasting Will Benefit Many

The Sandy Hook Organization for Prosperity (SHOP) will host a beer and wine tasting fundraiser on Saturday, June 16, at 7 pm. The event will be in The Hawley Warner Room (the special events room) at Stone River Grille, 1 Glen Road in Sandy Hook Center.

Tickets are $30, which cover beer and wine tastings and hors d’oeuvres.

A silent auction and raffles will also be offered. Among the items being offered will be Breakfast with Father Bob (Monsignor Robert Weiss of St Rose Church) at his favorite restaurant, Sandy Hook Diner; Lunch With Lyddy (lunch at Sandy Hook Deli & Catering with State Representative Chris Lyddy); and dinner with First Selectman Pat Llodra at Stone River Grille.

Also being offered during the event will be a child’s birthday party at Sandy Hook Fire & Rescue’s main station, including a tour, with pizza from The Villa and ice cream from Heaven Ice Cream; four-packs of tickets to Rodney Dangerfield’s Comedy Club in Manhattan, courtesy of i-95 radio; a $250 gift certificate, plus an oil change and tire alignment, from Jensen Automotive; and a $500 gift certificate for legal services by Attorney Dan O’Grady, courtesy of Peg Jepsen.

A gift basket from PJ’s Laundromat filled with laundry items and Mary Kay products; a haircut for Dad from Fun Kuts; a dogwood tree, including planting, by LRM, Inc; one year curbside service and use of a six-yard dumpster (two separate lots) from Associated Refuse; and gift certificates from Newtown Youth Academy and Porco’s Karate Academy are also among the evening’s offerings. McLaughlin Vineyard and Sandy Hook Hair Co. are also planning to contribute items to the silent auction and/or raffle.

Entertainment will be provided by musician John Voket.

SHOP is a group of residents and local business owners united to promote the revitalization of Sandy Hook’s design district and to promote small and local businesses. Funds raised on June 16 will not only benefit SHOP, but also will be divided among Newtown Youth & Family Services, Newtown Scholarship Association, and Faith Food Pantry.
