Allen Henry Hubbard of Newtown graduated from Saint Michael’s College, Colchester, Vt., with a Bachelor of Science, summa cum laude, degree in biology at the college’s during a commencement ceremony held on the college campus May 14.

The following area residents graduated from Quinnipiac University during an undergraduate commencement exercises on May 20 at the Hamden university: Kerri Dolan of Sandy Hook graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in communications; Sydney Russell of Newtown graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism; and Rachel Sliker of Sandy Hook graduated with a bachelor of science in economics.

Lillian I. Rodriguez was named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester at Alfred (N.Y.) University. Lillian attends Alfred’s School of Art & Design and studies in the school’s honors program.

Keene (N.H.) State College has named Brendan Sean Delohery of Newtown on the Dean’s List for the spring semester. The Dean’s List designation is bestowed to those Keene State College undergraduates enrolled in a degree program who have completed a minimum of six credit hours in the semester, receiving no failing or incomplete grades. A 3.5 or higher grade point average on a 4.0 scale is required to earn the honor.

Caleb Benore of Newtown recently graduated from Bard College at Simon’s Rock, Great Barrington, with an associate of arts degree in liberal arts.

The following local students have achieved Dean’s High Honors, a recognition for students who have earned a grade point average of at least 3.78, for the spring semester at Connecticut College, New London: Stephen Dworkin, Amanda Kloth, and Samuel Norcross of Newtown and Elizabeth Maret Sandy Hook. Stephen Dworkin, who majored in English, and Elizabeth Maret, who majored in physics and Japanese language and literature, graduated during a recent commencement ceremony. Elizabeth was also awarded the David G. Fenton Physics-Astronomy Prize, which is given for excellence in physics. Samuel Norcross was also recently awarded the Dorothy Richardson Prize, which is given to a sophomore student for excellence in biology offered by the biology department in honor of Dorothy Richardson.

Daniel R. Murdoch of Newtown graduated with a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Mary Washington, Fredericksburg, Va.

The School of Education and Professional Studies and the Graduate Division at Eastern Connecticut State University held its 12th Annual Excellence Expo May 2. The expo took place in several locations across campus, including the Student Center, Charles R. Webb Hall, and the J. Eugene Smith Library. Three local residents took part in the Expo, Marley Koschel and Andrew Woods of Sandy Hook, and Aidan Sherman of Newtown.

Ann F. Hull of Newtown received a bachelor of arts degree from Hamilton College, Clinton, N.Y., on Sunday, May 20, with a degree in psychology. Also at Hamilton College, Ann F. Hull and Kevin M. Rovelli were named to the college’s Dean’s List for its spring semester. To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must have carried throughout the semester a course load of four or more graded credits with an average of 3.5 or above out of a 4.0 scale.

Western Connecticut State University has named the following Newtown residents to its Dean’s List its spring semester: Kimberly Andrews, Theresa Bibeau, Matthew Biscoe, Nicole Bounty, Brett Burroughs, Katherine Caulfield, Jessica Cherry, Anthony Gadoci, Meghan Graves, Sarah Hall, Charles Hill, Jennifer Kalbacher, Kelly Lindell, Michael Mark, Connor Mason, Margaret Mcloughlin, Catrina Morgan, Kaitlyn O’Brien, Maxwell Paynter, Jessica Ravana, Nicole Scalora, Matthew Siebert, Sarah Smith, Kelly Stendahl, Brian Straniti, and Dubravka Taksic.

Skidmore College, Saratoga Spring, N.Y., held its graduation commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 19, at which Grace Galie of Newtown received a bachelor of arts degree, cum laude, and Sean Ryan of Sandy Hook received a bachelor of science degree.

The University of Vermont, Burlington, VT, held its graduation ceremonies on May 20. Michael J. Johnson of Newtown received a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental engineering and Francis G. Oggeri of Sandy Hook received a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental sciences.

Bryant University, Smithfield, RI, held its graduation commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 19. Among the graduates are the following local residents: Mathieu de Brantes of Newtown earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration in marketing and Matthew Wright of Sandy Hook earned a Bachelor of Science degree in international business in management

The following local residents graduated during Eastern Connecticut State University’s recent commencement ceremonies: Nicholas Magoulas of Newtown graduated with a degree in communication; Christine Campanale of Newtown graduated with a degree in psychology; Cristina Parks of Newtown graduated with a degree in Spanish; Tyler Rudolph of Newtown graduated with a degree in communication; Conor Sherman graduated with a degree in history; Andrew St. John of Sandy Hook graduated with a degree in environmental earth science; and Alyssa DeSimone of Newtown graduated with a degree in communication.

The following students were named to the Dean’s List at the University of New Haven, West Haven, for its Spring 2012 Semester: Brittany Bauch of Sandy Hook, Charles Brooks of Sandy Hook, Robert Kick of Newtown, Michael Locorotondo of Newtown, Colleen Murphy of Sandy Hook, and Veronica Parsloe of Sandy Hook. Full-time undergraduate students must have a 3.50 or better cumulative grade point average for the semester to be eligible for the Dean’s List.

Juniata College, Huntingdon, PA, has named 381 students to the Dean’s List for the 2012 Spring Semester. Melissa Elizabeth King of Newtown, the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth King and a 2009 graduate of Newtown High School, was named to the list. The dean’s list at Juniata College recognizes grade point averages of at least 3.6 out of a possible 4.0 scale.

 The following Newtown residents graduated from the University of New Hampshire, Durham, NH, during a Commencement Ceremony held Saturday, May 19: Allison Rambone earned a Bachelor of Science degree in hospitality management, cum laude; Daniel Smith earned a Bachelor of Science degree in hospitality management; Gretchen Carey earned a Bachelor of Science degree in communication science and disorders; Jason Smith earned a Bachelor of Science degree in hospitality management, and Thomas Dolzall earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history, summa cum laude. Students who received the honor of summa cum laude graduated with a grade point average between 3.7 to 4.0; and students who received the honor of cum laude graduated with a grade point average between 3.2 and 3.49.

Keith E. Hoffman, son of Edward and Marion Hoffman of Newtown, was named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2012 semester at Unity College, ME, where Keith is majoring in wildlife biology.

Elise Patricia DeRoo graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in molecular biology and Liza Marie Eugenie Muhlfeld graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in art and art history recently during commencement ceremonies for Colgate University, Hamilton, NY.

Conor A. Mcmanus of Newtown received a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science and management, Hayley M. Frier of Newtown received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in marketing, cum laude, Brenden D. Cologna of Newtown received a Master of Science degree in accounting, and Alison Mary Mitchell of Sandy Hook received a Doctor of Philosophy degree in psychology from the University of Rhode Island, Kingston, RI, during recent graduation commencement ceremonies.

Bucknell University, Lewisburg, PA, recently released the Dean’s List for outstanding academic achievement during the spring semester of the 2011-2012 academic year. A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher out of a scale of 4.0 to receive recognition on the list. Emma K. Fiore, daughter of David and Terese Fiore of Newtown, and Kristen K. Tanner, daughter of Richard and Dawn Tanner of Newtown, were both named on the list..
