The following area residents graduated from Quinnipiac University during an undergraduate commencement exercises on May 20 at the Hamden university: Kerri Dolan of Sandy Hook graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in communications; Sydney Russell of Newtown graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism; and Rachel Sliker of Sandy Hook graduated with a bachelor of science in economics.
Lillian I. Rodriguez was named to the Deanâs List for the spring semester at Alfred (N.Y.) University. Lillian attends Alfredâs School of Art & Design and studies in the schoolâs honors program.
Keene (N.H.) State College has named Brendan Sean Delohery of Newtown on the Deanâs List for the spring semester. The Deanâs List designation is bestowed to those Keene State College undergraduates enrolled in a degree program who have completed a minimum of six credit hours in the semester, receiving no failing or incomplete grades. A 3.5 or higher grade point average on a 4.0 scale is required to earn the honor.
Caleb Benore of Newtown recently graduated from Bard College at Simonâs Rock, Great Barrington, with an associate of arts degree in liberal arts.
The following local students have achieved Deanâs High Honors, a recognition for students who have earned a grade point average of at least 3.78, for the spring semester at Connecticut College, New London: Stephen Dworkin, Amanda Kloth, and Samuel Norcross of Newtown and Elizabeth Maret Sandy Hook. Stephen Dworkin, who majored in English, and Elizabeth Maret, who majored in physics and Japanese language and literature, graduated during a recent commencement ceremony. Elizabeth was also awarded the David G. Fenton Physics-Astronomy Prize, which is given for excellence in physics. Samuel Norcross was also recently awarded the Dorothy Richardson Prize, which is given to a sophomore student for excellence in biology offered by the biology department in honor of Dorothy Richardson.
Daniel R. Murdoch of Newtown graduated with a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Mary Washington, Fredericksburg, Va.
The School of Education and Professional Studies and the Graduate Division at Eastern Connecticut State University held its 12th Annual Excellence Expo May 2. The expo took place in several locations across campus, including the Student Center, Charles R. Webb Hall, and the J. Eugene Smith Library. Three local residents took part in the Expo, Marley Koschel and Andrew Woods of Sandy Hook, and Aidan Sherman of Newtown.
Ann F. Hull of Newtown received a bachelor of arts degree from Hamilton College, Clinton, N.Y., on Sunday, May 20, with a degree in psychology. Also at Hamilton College, Ann F. Hull and Kevin M. Rovelli were named to the collegeâs Deanâs List for its spring semester. To be named to the Deanâs List, a student must have carried throughout the semester a course load of four or more graded credits with an average of 3.5 or above out of a 4.0 scale.

Melissa Elizabeth King of Newtown, the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth King and a 2009 graduate of Newtown High School, was named to the list. The deanâs list at Juniata College recognizes grade point averages of at least 3.6 out of a possible 4.0 scale.
