Alice (Bianchi) Abraham, 88, of Danbury, wife of the late David Abraham, died May 30, surrounded by her family. She was born March 8, 1924, and grew up with four sisters and five brothers in Southington.
She was loved by her daughters and son-in-laws Deborah and John Modzelewski, Jr, of Newtown, RoseMarie and Gene Davio of San Clemente, Calif.; and Carolyn and Richard Damici of Danbury. Her brother, Ret Lt Col Emilio Bianchi of Salisbury, N.C., and her sisters, Agatha Mangini of Wallingford, and Florence Santillo of Lake Worth, Fla., survive Mrs Abraham. She was also proud of her eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and their families. She was beloved by many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
Mrs Abraham worked in St Raphaelâs Hospital, New Haven, and was a line manager in a defense factory during World War II. She moved to Danbury in 1943 and married David in 1946.
She has been a parishioner of St Annâs Church and a longstanding, active member of the St Annâs Ladies Guild.
She was an avid bowler, a devoted Yankees fan, and was known for feeding those in need or anyone lucky enough to cross her path. She was nicknamed âNannyâ by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved, cared, and sung for them all. She will always be remembered for her keen sense of humor, her generous spirit, and loving heart.
The Rite of Burial took place June 6. Burial was in St Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
