VNAâs Mary M. Holian Scholarship Awarded To Jane Albrecht
The board of directors of Newtown Visiting Nurse Association and the VNA Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce that the Mary M. Holian Nursing Scholarship for Returning Students has been awarded to Jane Albrecht.
Mrs Albrecht is a student at Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing. She has completed her first year of studies, and will graduate in May 2008 with an RN degree. She previously attended the University of Alaska and Naugatuck Community College. While living in Alaska, she took courses and was certified as an EMT technician, a childbirth educator, and a massage therapist. She has also worked as a case worker for the Division of Health and Social Services.
Mrs Albrecht resides with her husband Scott and three daughters in Newtown.
The Mary M. Holian-Newtown Visiting Nurse Association Scholarship for Returning Students was established in 1988 to honor Mrs Holian for her dedication and leadership in Public Health Nursing in Newtown and the State of Connecticut.
The scholarship award of $2,000 is available to Newtown residents who are returning to school or are changing their college major to study nursing for an RN (registered nurse), a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN), masters of science in nursing (MSN), or the degree of nurse practitioner.
