Boys U13
Force 4, Weston 1 â Sean Burson notched his second hat trick of the season and Josh Gilbert added a goal to lead the Force to another district win. Peter Ovendorf, Cameron Clark and Jimmy Mooney all hustled.
Girls U12
Flash 2, Wilton 2 â Brittany Tolla and Melissa Buccino scored with assists from Bridget Power and Kristy Papaj to the Flash. Solid midfield was displayed by Katie Shirley, Tressa Scott, Jenna Hindes and Kristi Engler. Caitlin Yakush was tough in the net.

Newtown Kick-Off
Flash 3, Wilton 1 â Lindsay Jossick, Bridget Power and Amy Martin all scored to lead the Flash to the win. Brittany Tolla and Power chipped in with assists as Tressa Scott and Katie Shirley were solid in midfield.
Flash 3, Easton 0 â Brittany Tolla, Lindsay Jossick and Amy Martin all scored in a win over Easton. Tolla provided an assist as Caitlin Yakush and Melissa Buccino were tough in goal.
Flash 1, Cyclones 1 â Melissa Buccino scored the lone goal for the Flash in the draw. Kristy Papaj and Bridget Power were solid in midfield.
Flash 1, Newington 1 â Brittany Tolla scored the lone goal.
Boys U12
Memorial Day Kick-Off
Cobras 4, Wilton Blue 0 â Christian Mather, Connor Quinn, Eric Fiore and Robert Willis each contributed a goal. Chris Erikson and Richard Greenwood provided assists. Patrick Thornberg, Nick Barreto and Nick Gerbo controlled mid field play while the impenetrable defense was led by defenders Noah Sock and Matt Rahtelli.
Cobras 4, Ridgefield Black 0 â Robert Willis, Richard Greenwood, Connor Quinn and Christian Mather scored a goal apiece. Ian Solaski and Eric Fiore chipped in with assists. Newtownâs defense was insurmountable thanks to the strong efforts of Stephen Conway, Drew Sullivan, and goalie Sean Elliott.
Cobras 0, New Milford 0 â Sam Langdon, Colin Moller, Chris Erikson and Richard Greenwood dominated the midfield. Keeper Sean Elliott had a very impressive game at goal with 12 saves and Ian Solaski and Drew Sullivan had overall good games.
Cobras 1, Easton 1 â Connor Quinn scored off a fine assist from Nick Barreto. Pieter Martino, Sam Langdon and Robert Willis had strong efforts in the midfield while defenders Stephen Conway, Noah Sock, Matt Rahtelli and Nick Gerbo kept the Easton offense at bay.
Boys U11
The Beasts finished the Memorial Day Kick Off Tournament with a 3-1 record. The final game was a thrilling 3-2 shootout win, scoring on six of eight opportunities. Owen Gaston excelled in the shoot out.
Girls U11
Jaguars 2, Weston 0 â Angela Halili and Sally Martinelli scored in the win. Lindsay Jagoe and Shannon OâGorman were outstanding in the midfield as Gabrielle DeBartolomeo supported the offense and Tess Murray controlled the back line from the stopper position.
Jaguars 1, Fairfield 0 â Karlie Kuligowski made several fine saves to preserve the shutout win. Taylor Brady anchored the defense as the Jaguars finished the regular season at 5-3-0.
Memorial Day Kick Off
In the Newtown Memorial Day tournament, the Newtown Jaguars U11 girls travel team was victorious against Redding/Easton premier team, the Redding Gold travel team and Wilton Blue, but fell to Wilton White. Reagan Cerney scored five goals in the tournament as Sally Martinelli added three and Anna Northrop chipped in two. Serena Kiss, Shannon OâGorman and Danielle Shine notched a goal apiece. Jamison Fletcher and Allie Brazo anchored the D.
Boys U10
White Lightning 4, Shelton 1 â Luca Imbimbo and Brenton Scott scored two goals apiece to lead the White Lightning to the win. Kevin Ovendorf had an outstanding game in goal as Kevin Droniak, Knute Johnson and Graham Hubbert controlled the defense.
Girls U10
Lightning 3, Darien 1 â Cassie Fisher set the tone for the game with her hustle in this first place battle with Darien. Kailee Dunnigan scored two goals for the Lightning and Sarah Lynch added one. Amy Martinelli and Siena Cicarelli were solid in the nets.

Girls U14
Purple Pirates 0, Turf Trashers 0 â An evenly matched, very competitive and fun game played by both teams. Sydney Hutchinson, Samantha Wray, and Meghan Condon played excellent defense for the Turf Trashers and Katie Cummings played great in goal. Daniella Genovese, Maria Biondi, Emily Lones and Katie Peters played excellent games for the Purple Pirates.
Piranhas 1, Hurricanes 1 â Lauren Sarna and Jessica McDonald shared the net for the Piranhas and played extremely well. Margo Trainer and Emily Albrecht were strong on defense and Emily Rowe scored a great heads-up goal to tie the game. For the âCanes, Christie Iorfino, Alyssa Kneski, Samantha Lew and Elena Unschuld all shared time in the net as Samantha Whitley played a strong midfield and Marilyn LaCroce scored the lone goal.
Hurricanes 0, Sharpshooters 0 â Grace McKinley and Elena Unschuld earned the shutout in goal for the Hurricanes as Samantha Whitley and Marilyn LaCroce sparkled in the midfield. Caroline Lawrence and Jane Sclafani shared time in the net for the âShooters as Meagan Foy, Zoe Eggleston and Alice Delia played the mid and wings well.
Boys U14
Liverpool 5, Golden Toasters 2 â Gavin Scallon had a goal and two assists to lead Liverpool. Bobby Mascher was active at midfield and Josh Branchflower sparkled in the net. For the Toasters, Francis Saracini and Jared Wray both scored as Grant Ricketts and Patrick Riccardi played well in goal.
Girls U10
Tie Dye Tigers 4, Soccer Shockers 0 â Jesse Sailer, Leah Bromberg, Meghan Grimes and Alexi Rodriguez all scored to lead the Tigers to a Girls U10 tournament win. Ashley Marks played a great game on defense while Rebecca Grant played a solid game in goal. For the Shockers, Christina DeBartolomeo and Emma Lardner were solid on defense and Catherine McHugh was outstanding in goal. Helene Sorensen played a great all around game.
Strikers 1, Tie Dye Tigers 0 â Kelsey Muniz found the back of the net on a penalty kick late in regulation to give the Strikers a 1-0 victory in the Girls U10 tournament championship win over the Tigers. The win capped a 5-0 run by the Strikers to capture the division title, including three straight 1-0 decisions ⦠and two of those games played with no subs on hand. Through the tournament, game winners were also netted by Brenna Kelly and Emma Burns. The Strikersâ back line of Michele Zarifis and Selina Henn held firm, allowing just one goal against in the five games. Great games were also had by Ryan Cassin, Katie Bedell, Emma DeFlumeri, Aine Duffy and Tanner Tardie. In the final for the Tigers, outstanding all around play was turned in by Kerry Scallon and Emily Grimes. While Ashley Marks anchored the defense, Jaime Duncan and Rebecca Grant were great minding the nets.

NOTE: Third place was captured by the Twisters, who fell to the Tigers in a marathon penalty kick shootout after a scoreless regulation. The tie was not broken in the Tigers favor until the 10th round of penalties. Strong games for the Twisters were turned in by Paige Thanasoulis, Hope McMorran and Katie Mossbarger, while Jenna Hansen was all but unbeatable in goal. All In all, about 100 girls played in the 18 matches over two days, with each team playing at least three times. Three games went to penalty kicks and half the games were settled by only one goal.
Girls U8
Funky Monkeys 5, Killers 5 â Quinn Karp scored two goals while Makenna Cerney, Jessica Maturo and Kendra Dunnigan added one apiece to lead the Monkeys. Megan Nahmias and Haley Taylor played well. Anna Biondi scored four goals to lead the Killers while Mackenzie Macchiarulo added one. Emily Neave and Amanda Donovan were outstanding in defense.
Rockets 4, Huskies 1 â Brittney Antous scored three goals and Caitlyn Linden tallied one to lead the Rockets. Sarah Lyon and Alessandra Manfredi played well. For the Huskies, Lauren Wilcox scored the goal. Emily Toby and Celia Gold had great games.
Fighting Irish 4, Power 0 â Jillian Pieretti, Madeline Sieber and Alexis Tucker all scored goals to lead the Irish. Alexandra Manoni played fantastic on both sides of the ball and Brianna Straiton was outstanding in the goal. For the Power, Kayla DiSibio played well on defense while Maya Neuhoff was great in the goal. Caroline Caporale, Tessa Leon-Gambetta and Annie Hoffman played well on offense and defense.
Mustangs 4, Pink Panthers 2 â Alana Murray scored two goals as Chloe Rogalin and Lauren Beier each scored a goal to lead the Mustangs. Bridget Spies and Amy Pruner had assists. For the Panthers, Katie Reilly scored both goals. Mallory LoBuglio was fierce in offense and Lauren Russo played great all around.
Boys U8
Silver Scorpions 5, Lightning Bolts 1 â Jake Oliger scored four goals and Ellis Hubbard added one to lead the Scorpions to the win. Michael OâKeefe provided an assist. Braden Marcinek and Quinn Browne played hard. Cooper Buonocore scored the goal for the Bolts as Ben Dieckman and Matthew Kretz played well on defense. Andrew Janco and Matthew Guiney helped spark the attack.
Super Strikers 7, Blasters 2 â Nicholas Genovese scored five goals and Jacob Anastasi added two to lead the Strikers. Jackson Fletcher was fierce as goalie and Forrest Weatherby was the key defensemen. Kieran Lynch was instrumental in offense and setting up the goals.
Torpedoes 5, Super Strikers 2 â Chris Healy scored four goals to lead the Torpedoes. James Carney chipped in a goal as Matt Stewart anchored the defense in goal with six saves. Noah LaFerriere had a solid game at midfield. For the Strikers, Nicholas Genovese and Jacob Anastiara both scored. Karir Lynch had five saves in goal for the Strikers as Forrest Weatherby played a great defensive game.
Superchargers 3, Flying Tornadoes 1 â Andrey Masser, Colin Patrick and Thomas Leuci all scored to lead the âChargers to the win. Mason Melillo and Owen Samson had superb games. For the Tornadoes, Mitchell Long scored the goal as Charles Romano, Elliot Bennett and Chris Anesi playing well.
Boys U6
Tigers 3, Patriots 1 â Scott Martin, Hayes Kelchner and Tony Leonardi scored to lead the Tigers. Joseph Verga played well in goal. For the Patriots, Sebastian Forerro scored as Zachary Boland and Andrew Lee played awesome on offense
Lightning 4, Firecrackers 2 â Simon Preston had two goals and Christopher Faxon played well on offense for the Lightning. Ryan Mailloux and Jack McDonnell led the strong Lightning defense. Peter Fagerholm and Colin Dunn scored goals for the Firecrackers as Silas Decker had a strong game in goal.
