Success At USA Gymnastics Meet

Amy Caporale (left), Colby Chilson (right) and Lauren O’Connell (not pictured), all of Newtown, recently competed in the Level 7 USA Gymnastics Connecticut state championships held in Hartford. Each gymnast competed in four events – floor exercises, balance beam, vault and uneven parallel bars. Caporale’s score of 9.6 on floor placed her first in that event in the state in her age bracket and with a third place finish on vault and a strong performance on bars (9.05) and beam (9.0), her all around score for the meet was 36.95. Chilson’s best score was on the balance beam with 9.125 and her all around score for the day was 34.525. O’Connell executed a solid vault scoring 9.15 and finished with a 33.75 all around score. All three gymnasts compete for Gymnastics Revolution in Bethel.
