SENIOR GIRLS

Newtown Gold 7, Southbury A 3 – On a very hot afternoon, Newtown dominated the second half as Kelly O’Connor, Nicole Gindraux, Maggie Korth, Sarah Attanasion and Jocelyn Toll sparked the defense in front of goalies Jill Jagoe and Shannon Paproski. Meredith Bridges dished out 4 assists while the scoring was done by Kaitlin Brophy, Katie Canavan and Liz Emerson.

Newtown Gold 8, Fairfield Wakeman 8 – Kaitlin Brophy, Meredith Bridges, Liz Emerson and Katie Canavan powered the attack in a draw with Fairfield Wakeman. Erin Brown, Kaitlin Vos Winkel and Emma Kingsley were solid in the midfield as Jocelyn Toll, Sarah Attanasio and Nicole Gindraux anchored the D.

Southbury 10, Newtown White 1 – Emma Glasrud held strong in the cage with an amazing 11 saves while Brenna Calderera, Danielle Ford, Katherine Lotrecchiano and Michelle Isabella helped stop the strong Southbury offense, but White still suffered the loss. Rachel Hyland (with the only goal), Kelsey Karp, Alex Klein and Lexi Black helped power the offense.

SENIOR BOYS

Newtown Gold 14, Pomperaug Black 2 – Ryan Korth scored three goals and had two assists to pace the Newtown offense. Lewis Thompson added two goals (one on a sweet behind-the-back shot) and two assists and Will Northrop scored three goals. Connor Byrne and Thomas Murphy each scored a goal and had an assist as Colby Summerlin scored two goals. Mike Zaccaro, Scott Wexler and Brandon Body, who came out of the cage in the second half for his first field action in three years, also scored.

Newtown Gold 9, New Milford A 2 – Max Nacewicz and Josh Freitas anchored a tough defensive performance in a win over New Milford. Kyle Vignone was his usually dominant self at midfield and Jeremy Schaniel and Joe Pieretti provided stalwart support for Brandon Body, who made nine saves in goal. CJ Ryan scored a goal and had three assists to lead the offense. Will Northrop add three goals.

Newtown Blue 8, Watertown Blue 1 – Matt Genovese scored three goals and Dave Kreshpan was dominant at long pole defense to overwhelm Watertown. Liam Ferguson scored twice, and Gabe Ruiz had a goal and an assist. Brandon Cusmano and James Radcliffe each had a  goal and Thomas DiLuoffo provided an assist. Nate Coleman scooped eight ground balls.

JUNIOR GIRLS

Newtown Gold 10, Southbury 3 – Alexa Powell, Caroline Kingsley and Anna Northrop powered the offense in a 10-3 win over Southbury. Jane Sclafani and Tess Kneisel provided tight defense as Bryanna LeBlanc and Julia Trudell had fine performances in the midfield.

Ridgefield 9, Newtown Gold 7 – Tess Kneisel and Julia Trudell saved nine shots on goal in shared duty between the pipes. Goals were by middies Caroline Kingsley, Anna Northrop and Carley Ferris and the defense anchored by Rachel Wiberg, Kelly O’Connell, and Olivia Phenix.

Newtown Blue 8, Shelton 2 – Brittany Boggs made six saves and Melissa Christiano played phenomenal defense in a win over Shelton. Sidney Hansen had two assists while Lauren Harrison made three steals. Goals were scored by Maggie Kost, Brittany Emslie, Jaclyn Dailey, Kelsey Packer and Meaghan Harkins.

Ridgefield 7, Newtown Blue 6 – Meaghan Harkins, Erin Kenning, Kristie Vos Winkel and Jaclyn Dailey provided the offense, but Newtown fell short. Paige Murphy had three assists and Maddie Fletcher had one. Emily Maher fought her way to five ground balls as Amanda Crowell and Jillianne Lyon intercepted two passes each.

JUNIOR BOYS

Newtown Gold 4, Redding/Easton Black 3 – Newtown came back from a two-goal deficit to earn a hard fought win at Treadwell. James Marusi scored twice and Dan Hebert and Connor Quinn each scored a goal to power the offense. Midfielders Chris Erickson and Tyler Hanley had great games while goaltender Evan Isaacs (10 saves) sparkled in the cage. Brian Krueger and Tom Bauer provided stalwart defense.

Pomperaug Black 5, Newtown Blue 4 – Chase Hutchison scored twice and Steven Walsh and Max Lopez each had a goal as Newtown just fell short in Southbury. Andrew Derrickson had six ground balls and Casey Fuller made seven saves in goal.
