Longtime Botsford Post Office Clerk Retires

As she bustled about the lobby of the Botsford Post Office, handing out slabs of cake and serving up cups of coffee and juice, it was hard to believe that Terry Stoccatore was the guest of honor at the celebration taking place there Friday, June 1. But the kisses and hugs bestowed upon her by incoming customers and the armloads of flowers she carried in the crook of her arm were a dead giveaway.

After 20 years as the clerk at Botsford Post Office, Thursday, May 31, marked Mrs Stoccatore’s last day. Friday’s fete was an opportunity for friends, family, and customers to gather between 11 am and 1 pm to wish her well in her retirement. She was also honored at that time with a US Postal Service Certificate for Twenty Years of Service and a 20-year pin.

“I started at the Stevenson Post Office in Monroe over 20 years ago, and then went on loan to Botsford,” said Mrs Stoccatore. “I was hired permanently at Botsford 13 years ago.”

Mrs Stoccatore is not the first member of her family to retire from Botsford Post Office. Her father, Clem Koscavage, was postmaster at Botsford, retiring 23 years ago, not long before Mrs Stoccatore joined the staff.

“She has been a dedicated employee,” said Botsford postmaster Nancy Kuszpa. “She’ll be missed by all of the customers and her co-workers. I wish her the best in her retirement.”

Mrs Stoccatore is looking forward to spending more time with her husband, Al, who is also retired. She will also have more opportunity to visit with her daughters who live in neighboring towns, said Mrs Stoccatore, who lives in Monroe.

“I have my gardening to look forward to, and I have a lot of hobbies that I want to get back into doing. We’ll probably be doing some day trips, too,” she said. “If I think about it, I’ll probably work harder at home than I had to here!” she exclaimed.
