Church Planning Strawberry Festival,

Juried Craft & Fine Art Show

MONROE — On Saturday, June 16 from 10 am to 5 pm, and Sunday, June 17, from 11 am to 5 pm, Monroe Congregational Church will present its Annual Strawberry Festival and Juried Craft and Fine Art Show on Monroe Green.

The 36th annual event is an old-fashioned church festival that has something for everyone. Freshly picked native strawberries are served in strawberry shortcake, whole berry pies and chocolate dipped creations. There will also be strawberry jams, jellies, and breads. There are even special strawberry souvenir items.

In past years over two tons of berries were handpicked and served to festival goers.

There will be inexpensive games for children and entertainment on both days, and plenty of grilled hamburgers and hot dogs.

Over 100 juried crafters and fine artists from the East Coast will be selling their handmade items and paintings on the green. Shop for flowers, clothing, fine art, jewelry, furniture, glass, pottery, crafts of wood and metal and much more. There will also be special quilt and American flag exhibits.

There is no admission fee and parking is also free. Call the church at 268-9327 before 1 pm on weekdays for further information. The church is at 34 Church Street, just off the green.
