Kirsten Elizabeth Cleary graduated from The Gunnery, Washington, Conn., on June 1. Kristen was honored as MVPâField Hockey and Benjamin Lawrence Greenfield graduated Cum Laude. He was inducted into the Cum Laude Society at The Gunnery.
Monica Arienzo, a junior environmental science major at Franklin & Marshall College, Lancaster, Penn., received the Enviroscan Award for accomplishment in geophysics. Monica, daughter of Maurizio and Wendy Arienzo, is a graduate of the Wooster School in Danbury.
Ed Wolf, a 2003 graduate of Newtown High School, was elected president of Rochester Institute of Technology Student Government. Ed, a third-year computer engineering major, said his candidacy grew out of a desire to spur change. âI remember sitting around with a bunch of my friends complaining about the way that student government was doing things,â he said. âAnd then I realized that I could either keep complaining and not do anything about it, or I could get involved â and thatâs what I did.â
Michael Dominic Taylor, NHS Class of 2003, graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude from Bowdoin College, in Brunswick, Maine. He received departmental prizes in both biology and environmental studies, as well as the Presidentâs Common Good Award. His honors thesis in biology was funded by a $25,000 fellowship grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Michael is currently traveling in Central America with Pablo Martinez of the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, studying several projects, including the creation of a binational peace park between Honduras and Nicaragua in the five million-acre rainforest of the Bosawas Biosphere Reserve.
Amber D. Butler, daughter of Shawn and Laurel Butler, and a member of NHS Class of 2005, has been named to the Deanâs List for the spring semester at Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Penn.
Brittany Boyle, daughter of Lee and Paul Boyle of Sandy Hook, has been named to the Deanâs List for the spring semester at Northeastern University, Boston.
Scott Alan Whalley has been named to the spring semester Deanâs List at Radford University in Radford, Va. Whalley, son of Mr and Mrs Kirk Whalley of 57 Toddy Hill Road, is a sophomore criminal justice major.
Michele DelVento Barrows, daughter of Robert and Jeannette DelVento of Huntingtown Road, received a bachelor of fine arts degree from Paier College of Art, Hamden. Michele graduated Summa Cum Laude.
