The Lady Lions put the final emphasis on an amazing turnaround season last week with a 5-3 win over Bethel and a 3-0 win over Rochambeau (which was 12-1 entering the game) and will close up shop with a 10-3 record
Morgan, who had broken Cathy Byrneâs old strikeout record a few games ago, added to the new record with nine strikeouts against Bethel and 16 more against Rochambeau, giving her 124 for the season.
In the 5-3 win over Bethel, the Lady Lions amassed just seven hits. Christina Wolf singled and tripled and Sarah Holroyd singled twice while Morgan doubled and Christie Caruso and Emily Nezvesky singled.
Jenna Van Waalwijk made several putouts to pace the defense.
In the 3-0 win over Rochambeau, the Lady Lions â who had been limited to just one hit in the first six innings â made their move in the seventh inning.
With the score tied at 0-0, Valerie Nezvesky led off with a single and then stole second and third. Caruso then walked and stole second and both scored on a single by Courtney Brunton. Brunton then stole second and third and scored on a single by Emily Nezvesky.
Caruso had the only other hit for the Lady Lions., a fourth-inning single.
Morgan â who pitched last summer with the Connecticut Charmers and amassed an amazing 29-2 record with nine no-hitters â allowed just three hits while whiffing those 16 batters.
