Roads Hit Hardest By Friday’s Storm

Newtown’s highway department’s Fred Hurley said that approximately 36 roads around Newtown, from major thoroughfares to small back lanes, were either closed or severely hindered during Friday night’s storm.

They included: Botsford Hill Road, Washbrook Road, Taunton Hill Road, Birch Hill Road, Brushy Hill Road, Hattertown Road, Poverty Hollow Road, Lakeview Terrace, Taunton Ridge Road, Taunton Lane, School House Hill Road, Shelley Road, Glen Road, Dug Hill Road, Bradley Lane, Hanover Road, Old Stream Road, Cedar Hill Road, Tamarack Road, Bentagrass Lane, Flat Swamp Road, Walnut Tree Hill Road, Palestine Road, Hundred Acres Road, Boggs Hill Road, Obtuse Road, Swamp Road, Elm Drive, Pecks Lane, Huntingtown Road, Maltbie Road, Riverside Road, Pheasant Ridge, and Newberry Road, along with Routes 34, 25, and 302.
