Helen M. Hallabeck, 96, of Danbury, died at Danbury Hospital, May 29. She was the wife of Edward F. Hallabeck, Sr. Mrs Hallabeck was born October 6, 1911, in Norwalk, Ohio, daughter of Alfred and Nora (OâBrien) Ballwig.
In addition to her loving husband of 73 years, she is survived by daughter, Patricia E. Schultz, and her husband, Richard, of Newtown;Â a son, Edward F. Hallabeck, Jr, and his wife, Catherine, of Danbury; three granddaughters and their husbands, Kimberly and Dennis Schultz of Virginia, Wendy Hallabeck Garland and John Garland of Massachusetts, and Nancy Hallabeck Day and Walter Day of Danbury; and three great-grandchildren, Peter and Tommy Schultz of Virginia, and Nora Garland of Massachusetts. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her granddaughter, Kelly Schultz; and her two brothers, Phillip and Leonard Ballwig.
She was raised and educated in Ohio, Kansas, and Massachusetts prior to settling in Connecticut. Mr and Mrs Hallabeck were married in St Joseph Church, February 11, 1935. She was first employed by the former Genungâs Department Store of Danbury and later as a secretary for St Joseph Church.
Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family. She enjoyed knitting, especially hats and sweaters for her grandchildren. She was a cat lover, a golf enthusiast, and loved traveling with her husband.
 A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St Joseph Church, Danbury, June 3. Interment followed in St Peter Cemetery.
