*HAT CITY BLUES BAND will return to the former Greenwoods in Bethel this weekend. Now called The Opera Café, the venue still âretains all the good vibes and inviting environment of days gone byâ promises Hat City vocalist and harmonica man David Lott. He and the others (still Ron Caruso, Bill Fedorko, Fary LeVan and Ed Pryzby) will be at The Opera Café, 186 Greenwood Avenue in Bethel, on Sunday, June 8. Showtime is 7:30, and the kitchen will still be open at that point.
Also coming up are shows at Milanoâs Restaurant & Pizzeria in New Milford on June 13; and an outdoor show at CityCenter Green in Danbury, featuring two drummers, on Saturday, August 9. The band is keeping busy with private gigs as well, but Iâll let you know whenever I hear from them about public performances.
*Tickets for a number of shows at Dodge Music Center, Chevrolet Theatre and even another biggie at Mohegan Sun Arena all go on sale this weekend, so here are the details:
Fresh off their 2008 Grammy Award, THE EAGLES will bring their Long Road Out of Eden Tour to Mohegan Sun Arena on Thursday, July 31. Tickets are $165 to $265 and will be on sale Saturday morning at 10.
LIVE and COLLECTIVE SOUL will co-headline on August 6 at the Chevrolet in Wallingford, and BLUES TRAVELER will offer the opening set. Tickets are $35 to $55 and will be available this morning (Friday) after 10.
THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND and BOB WEIR & RATDOG will be at the Dodge Music Center on August 20, and those tickets also go on sale this morning. Theyâre $27.50 for the lawn, $65 and $27.50 for the pavilion. That isnât a typo: The upper corners of the pavilion will indeed be selling for the same price as the lawn seats, so if you want to get in under the roof but have the option of going on the lawn if itâs sunny, you have that choice. The majority of the pavilion, however, will be selling for $65.
JOHN MAYER, with special guest One Republic, will be at the Dodge in Hartford on Saturday, August 23. Tickets are $36 for the lawn, $60 reserved, and will be available Saturday at 10 through LiveNation.com.
Also on sale this morning will be the tickets for PARAMORE with Jackâs Mannequin and Phantom Planet at the Chevrolet Theatre on Saturday, August 30. Those tickets are $28.50 for regular seats and $29.50 for the general admission pit.
And finally, a second ELTON JOHN show has been added at Mohegan Sun Arena for November 15 (tickets sales for the previous night have all but sold out), with tickets still priced at $101.50 and $168.50 and on sale now.
Until next week Iâll be seeing you... on the road.
Questions and comments should be sent to Shannon Hicks c/o The Newtown Bee, 5 Church Hill Road, Newtown CT 06470, or shannon@thebee.com, or call the office at 426-3141. Shows listed at clubs are for ages 21 and over unless specified.
