NYS Summer Campers Get Ready For Adventure
NYS Summer Campers
Get Ready For Adventure
As expected, spaces are filling up for Newtown Youth Servicesâ Summer Adventure Camp, which is being offered throughout July and August for students completing grades five through eight. Under the direction of Matt Rosen, NYS outreach coordinator, the unique program enables campers to explore and experience some of Connecticutâs and greater New Englandâs most exciting sights, attractions, and natural beauty. Various beaches, skate parks, amusement parks, and sporting destinations will be visited.
NYS is offering this unique experience as an alternative to the traditional summer camp program offered by Parks and Recreation and other summer camps in the area. Making activities accessible, convenient, economical, safe, and fun were important factors in planning the Summer Adventure camp. Also, campers and parents have the flexibility of picking and choosing which dates and programs they attend. Participants are not required to register for an entire week or session as is standard with traditional camps.
Campers will travel by school bus or van and will be supervised by NYS staff. Camp is scheduled to being July 8 with a hiking and orienteering expedition at Steep Rock Mountain in Washington. For a complete Summer Adventure Camp schedule see the Park and Recreation Guide or contact NYS at 270-4335.
