ADJACENT HUNTS PACE SERIES

Saturday, June 7 – The Rombout Hunt Trail Ride will be held Saturday, June 7, at Anjes Farm on Tongore Road in Stone Ridge, New York. There will be First Flight, Optional Jumping, and Hilltopping divisions. A barbecue luncheon will be held at 12:30 pm (beer, wine and soft drinks included). Cost is $40 ($15 for juniors). Sunday, June 8 – The Golden’s Bridge Hounds Hunter Pace will be held Sunday, June 8, on Baxter Road in North Salem, New York. Ride through open meadows past apple orchards, vineyards, and lovely horse farms. There will be a new, revised course with more family-friendly fences (all fences have go-arounds).Hunt, Pleasure, Junior, Family and Western divisions. A country lunch buffet will be included. Saturday, June 14 – The Old Chatham Hunt Trail Ride will be held on Saturday, June 14, at Good Hope Farm on Route 66 in Malden Bridge, New York. There will be varied cross-country fences (all have go-arounds, though) on a course of about eight miles long. There will be three divisions – Hunt Pace Over Fences, Moderate Pace Fences Optional, and Hacking Pace (western riders welcome). Cost is $30 ($15 for juniors). Sunday, June 15 – The Smithtown Hunt Spring Pace will be held on Sunday, June 15, at SUNY of Old Westbury, New York. Call Alan Fairbairn at 1-631-912-0204 for further information.

 

HORSE SHOWS

SUNDAY, JUNE 8 – The Newtown Bridle Lands Association will hold its annual Spring Into Summer hunter pace on Sunday, June 8, on the grounds of the Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard at Fairfield Hills. Prizes will be awarded and refreshments available. Call 791-4853 to register.

SUNDAY, JUNE 8 – The Northwest Connecticut Draft Horse Association will hold its third annual Draft Horse Show on Sunday, June 8, at the Harwinton fairgrounds on Locust Road in Harwinton. The show will begin at 9 am with halter classes. There will be an antique tractor show, a swap meet, and antique tractor pull. There will be refreshments as well, prepared by the Harwinton Volunteer Fire Department. Admission is $3 with children 12 and under free. SUNDAY, JUNE 8 – Brushy Hill Farm in Southbury will host the first schooling show of the 2003 season on Sunday, June 8. Divisions will include Micro, Walk/Trot, Short Stirrup, Green Hunter, Low Hunter, Suitable Hunter, Equitation, Adult and Pleasure. The show will be held indoors in the event of inclement weather. SATURDAY, JUNE 28 – Cricker Brook Farm in Monroe will hold a CHJA Horse Show on Saturday, June 28. There will be divisions for Equitation, Hunters and Jumpers. Call 268-6676 for info and prize list.

 

DOG SHOWS

SATURDAY, JUNE 7 - The Greenwich Kennel Club will hold its 71st All-Breed AKC Dog Show and Obedience Trial on Saturday, June 7, at SUNY of Purchase, New York. Officials from 17 states and Canada will judge more than 2,300 dogs in conformation and obedience starting at 8:30 am. There will also be an AKC rally competition, an book signing and discussion with several authors, and a search and rescue demonstration with Disaster and Wilderness Ground Searchers, Inc. (DAWGS).
