On A Special Anniversary
To the Editor:
Friday, June 15, 2001 will be Jonathanâs first anniversary in Heaven. Fr Weiss will say a Memorial Mass at 3 pm at St Rose and the service will be open to anyone who wishes to attend.
This thought amazes me. Sometimes it seems like yesterday, and yet, sometimes it feels like 10 years have passed. In the beginning we were so diligent about pulling out that box of cards and remembrances and writing thank you notes. At some point that box got put in the other room and it was just too sad to pull out again. I would like to take this opportunity to let everyone know that your efforts were so very appreciated.
The caring, compassion, patience, and understanding of family, friends, co-workers, and complete strangers are what helped us get through this devastating year. And, will help carry us into the future. I will offer special thanks to some of you now, but, as it always works, I know I will think of one more once this letter is submitted. Know that you have a special place in our hearts and that our gratitude is extended to you. Thank you with all our hearts.
To the cross-country team for dedicating their season to Jonathan and for bringing us over a wonderful dinner and spending time with us. It was so good to see you guys. To the girls field hockey team for all the support you gave to Megan and the donation to the Scholarship Fund. You were great! To the yearbook staff for co-dedicating the yearbook to honor Jonathanâs memory. We will cherish it forever! To the Charity Club for donating half the proceeds of the Talent Show to Jonathanâs scholarship fund (We really enjoyed the show!) To the Student Government for donating half the proceeds of the Band Concert to Jonathanâs Scholarship Fund â and for dedicating a bench to be placed in the Senior Courtyard in his memory. This one is very special to us! To the caring people at St Rose Church, you have been a constant source of support - especially the Parish Nurse program and the Bereavement Group. To everyone who made donations to the scholarship fund, we hold on to that as a positive thing in Jonathanâs memory. To all that sent sympathy cards and Mass cards, know that you provided comfort. Especially to all of you who provided personal letters and bits of memories to share, there are no words in the English language to express our gratitude for these. Please continue; we so enjoy receiving them. We will have a book at the church on the 15th. Or email at Pullo@aol.com. To the teachers, counselors, and administration at the High School, thanks for all your help and compassion. And a heartfelt thank you to Meganâs friends, you are special angels that have carried her through. We will remember you always.
