50th Wedding Anniversary
Bill and Ada Schnitzel celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a reception at the Savoy in Brookfield.
The party was given by their children and grandchildren, Linda-Ann Rose and her husband, Dennis, of Salinas, Calif.; Richard Schnitzel, his wife, Michele, of Washington Depot, and children Richard Schnitzel, 14, and Kenneth Schnitzel, 10; Jane Watrous and her husband, Dave, of New Milford, and their children, Casey Watrous, 10, and Matthew Watrous, 7; and John Schnitzel and his wife, Susan, of Lancaster, N.Y.
In attendance were family members from Long Island, including their bridesmaid and sister, Ann Benenati, and sister Blanche Goetz of Long Island, N.Y.
William R. Schnitzel and Hedwig (Ada) Eileen Goetz were married on January 20, 1951, at 11 am by Father Frank Romanowski in Brooklyn, N.Y. Ada wore a gown of satin with a 10-yard train, and their cake was topped with a bride and groom, which was again featured on their 50th wedding cake.
Mr and Mrs Schnitzel and their four children settled in Newtown in 1967 after Mr Schnitzel accepted a position with Perkin Elmer; they moved to their current residence in 1972.
