Saint John’s Chorale To Hold Auditions

WASHINGTON — The Saint John’s Chorale will hold auditions for new members from 6:30 to 8 pm on Monday, June 19, and Tuesday, June 20, in the Choir Room of the Parish Hall at St John’s Episcopal Church.

The chorale, which is directed by Mark R. Scholtz, has openings for all vocal parts. Each audition will take no more than ten minutes.

The chorale’s 1999-2000 season included performances of Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols, Handel’s Chandos Anthem Number Nine and Bach’s Jesu, meine Freude.

Danbury music critic Frank Merkling praised the chorale’s spring concert as offering “wondrous harmony, angelic high counterpoint and melismas beautifully melded by Scholtz.”

Rehearsals for the fall season will start September 19, and are held each Tuesday from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. The church is on the green, off Route 47. Interested singers are encouraged to call Zemma White at 860/868-2140 to schedule an audition.
