Dog licenses for 2020 are currently available, though the town clerk’s office remains closed to the public.

To purchase a new dog license, send a self-addressed stamped envelope with a check made out to Town Of Newtown to Town Clerk’s Office, 3 Primrose Street, Newtown CT 06470; there is also a drop box on the north side of the Municipal Center at 3 Primrose Street. Cost for a license is $8 for spayed/neutered dogs, or $19 for unaltered dogs.

The late fee for obtaining a dog license has been extended from July 1, 2020 to August 1, 2020, per the Governor of Connecticut’s executive order.

A current rabies certificate is required, if there is not one on file, and a copy of the spaying or neutering certificate if the dog has not previously been licensed in Newtown.
