Take Advantage Of Common Interests
Take Advantage
Of Common Interests
To the Editor:
Could we piggyback the interests of the cell tower folks onto and/or into the already existing rights-of-way â the rivers, the highways, the pipelines, the overhead transmission lines? Could we thereby save the added ongoing intrusions into neighborhoods and open space? Could we avoid more overlaying, intensifying or extending electromagnetic fields?
If we could achieve all of the above, what a saving effort it would be in time, money, property rights and values, sight lines, and land preservation. And, who will be responsible for dismantling the tower installation in total once technology moves on?
Leased rights to bridges (rivers and highways), medians, dams, consigned lands could be co-opted with a good universally designed town (think Eiffel) structure adjustable to many and most base configurations. The height extended or reduced as needed, accommodating multiple users and uses, even air traffic lighting. How about an occasional American flag?
Possibility! No more threats to lands valued by homeowners and conservationists. Fewer regulatory issues, study delays, no case-by-case process. Could/should it be done this way? AT&T could be the first to try.
