Sandy Hook Settlers

Irving H. Bradley, 91, of Sandy Hook, died May 23. He was born to Rachel Remsen Bradley and Frank Burr Bradley in Norwalk on March 5, 1918. He was a devoted husband to Charlotte Vitro Bradley.

Mr Bradley was the father to Roy Bradley of Sandy Hook, Joseph Corbo and wife, Patricia, of Burlington, Mass., Robert Bradley and wife, Eileen, of Bridgeport, Shirley Corbo and husband, Pat D’Agostino, of Wallingford, and Lauren Corbo of Fairfield. Eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive Mr Bradley.

His ancestors were earlier settlers of Easton in the 1700s and Sandy Hook in the 1800s. His ancestors trace back to the descendents of the Mayflower.

Mr Bradley graduated from Stratford High School in 1936, Colonial School of Design, and Teachers Training, State of Connecticut, Department of Education. He was employed at General Electric for 28 years before leaving to form his own company.

Mr Bradley and his wife traveled to many historic places, abroad in Europe and the Far East. His favorite enjoyment was summers spent at Cape Cod. He also loved to snow ski.

He and his wife, under the leadership of the Reverend Paul Murray, were instrumental in forming the first Handicap Services at Sacred Heart University.

The family mourns with great sorrow the passing of a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed.

Services were private with Monsignor Robert Weiss of St Rose in Newtown. Burial will be private in the family cemetery in Wilton.
