A ‘Great Time’ For Newtown High School Seniors
More than 200 students celebrated summer, the end of their senior year, and being outside, at a Newtown High School senior barbecue on May 26.
“It’s so fun,” NHS Principal Dr Kimberly Longobucco said, while a teacher plunged into a dunk tank filled with water behind her. “[The seniors] are having a great time.”
Parents and NHS senior class advisors helped to organize the event, and members of the community supplied support and donations, including 75 raffle items.
Dr Longobucco said they chose a date “and hoped for good weather,” and that hope was fulfilled. There were carnival games, inflatables, and yard games all set up in a parking area and on the school’s back fields for the event.
A cotton candy machine was set up, an ice cream truck doled out treats, and students laughed, in good humor, at each station. Some held their freshly printed 2020-21 yearbooks in their hands for their friends to sign.
