Vote For The

Compromise

To the Editor:

I will be voting Yes at the next budget referendum on June 8.

The definition of compromise is “a settlement of differences by mutual concessions.” The budget that is being presented to the voters of Newtown for a third attempt at being passed is just that — a compromise. It is as a middle of the road product which has been created to meet the needs of all Newtown residents, without giving overwhelming preference to any particular group. While each of us may find we have to give a little, we also all stand to get much. I have watched this process over the past few months and see a much more cohesive process emerging. This lays the framework for Newtown to continue working together in the future to allow the town and the people of the town to truly stand out in our region.

Thank you to the town officials, employees, and private citizens who have given so much of themselves to bring this new budget scenario to the public. There may be as many opinions on how things should be done as there are voters in town, and hopefully our town leaders will continue to listen to each of us and we will each continue to be proud to be part of Newtown.

I hope you’ll join me in voting Yes at the next referendum.

Best Regards,

Christal Preszler
