Thunder Rumbles To Tourney Win
The Newtown Thunder, led by MVP Connor Barrett, defeated the Newtown Nasty in the 10-Year-Old Cal Ripken Baseball Memorial Day Tournament Championship game 13-0 this week. The tournament was held to benefit Newtown Food Pantry.
Lucas OâBrien, Colby Olson and Jason Hebner pitched 6 great innings as the Thunder rolled to victory. Dylan champagne led the Nasty at the plate, while Henry Primavera starred in the field. The Thunder won all four games to capture the weekend tournament which included victories over Keene New Hampshire, Wilton and Stratford. Ben Dieckman and Ryan Kost shut down Stratford 5-0 as Nicky Venezia and Adam Bergeron led the offense. A 9-0 victory over Keene was led by Ben Harrisonâs defense and hitting and Owen McInerneyâs slick baserunning. Sam Grossano and Will Huegi led the Thunder over Wilton 5-1 with dazzling plays and great hitting. The Thunder next play in Bethel, along with the Nasty, representing Newtown in the annual Jimmy Fund.
