Questioning The Oil Shortage

To the Editor:

Is anyone else out there wondering why gas prices have gone down this Memorial Day weekend? Usually, gas prices spike this time of year and especially with the crisis in the Gulf of Mexico with all those thousands of gallons leaking, I expected this would be a perfect excuse for the oil guys to push the prices sky high.

I am starting to question whether we have an oil shortage after all. Is it a secret that BP and Exxon Mobil don’t want us to know? Sure, I believe we are wasteful and need to conserve, but is there more than enough to keep gas prices under two dollars a gallon? Why really should they have billions of dollars in profit in any given year at our expense? This is highlighting one disaster after another and should serve as a wake-up call.
