‘Gramma Jean’

Beloved By All

Jennie “Jean” Buglione, 88, of Monroe, died May 31, at Masonicare of Newtown, after a brief illness. She was born in Bound Brook, N.J., June 8, 1921.

She is survived by two daughters, Lora Maguire, and her husband, Tom, of Newtown, and Fran Mayko, and her husband, Michael, of Milford; and four grandchildren. Mrs Buglione was predeceased by her husband, Angelo.

She moved to Bridgeport after her marriage in 1948, and became known for the rest of her life as “Jean.” She was active in St Ann Church, St Ann School, the Bridgeport Republican Party, and other community organizations. She was a retired seamstress. Later, she was employed as a cook at the former Burroughs Home in Black Rock.

She moved to Monroe in 1997. She was a member of St Jude Church and volunteered her time helping teachers at St Jude School where she was known as “Gramma Jean.” Mrs Buglione enjoyed her daily coffee klatches with her neighbors and dearest friends, who all will miss her immensely.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Masonicare of Newtown, the hospice staff of Masonicare Hospice, and Father Skip Karcsinski of St Jude Church for the care and support of the family in her final days.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, June 4, at 10 am, at St Jude Roman Catholic Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. Burial will follow in St Michael’s Cemetery, 2205 Stratford Avenue, Stratford. Calling hours were scheduled for Thursday, June 3, from 4 to 8 pm, at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher and Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe.
