Loving Wife And Mother, Caring Nurse
Jane (Wardlow) Duffy, 56, of Sandy Hook, died June 1, at her home. She was born January 9, 1954, in Buffalo, N.Y., the daughter of Rosemary and Elwood Wardlow, natives of Freeport, Ill., and now of Sarasota, Fla. She was the loving wife of Michael A. Duffy.
Mrs Duffy was a Unitarian Universalist, particularly fond of the work of Robert O. Ballou.
A graduate of Williamsville (N.Y.) High School, she came to Connecticut to attend the University of Bridgeport School of Nursing, earning a bachelorâs degree.
She and Michael were married in September of 1981 and settled in Sandy Hook in 1984.
For the past four years, Mrs Duffy was a nursing instructor at Lincoln Technical Institute in Hamden. She recently had been working toward a masterâs degree in geriatrics.
Mrs Duffy dearly loved her husband, her two boys, and her extended family. She loved gardening and taking long walks. She was most passionate about helping others, especially through nursing and the sharing of her knowledge and the excitement of health care.
Besides her husband, she leaves her sons Timothy of Rochester, N.Y., and Brian of Sandy Hook; a sister, Ann Wardlow of Beverly, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Friday, June 4, from 6 to 8 pm, at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South, Southbury. Funeral and services will be private.
