Francis R. Bradshaw, 81, of Newtown, died May 23, at Glen Hill Care & Rehabilitation Center, Danbury. He was born December 22, 1928, in Passaic, N.J., the son of Veronica (Evanko) and John Bradshaw. Mr Bradshaw was the husband of Helen (Haman) Bradshaw.
Mr Bradshaw lived in Sugar Notch and Wilkes-Barre, Penn., during his early years. He and his wife lived in Allentown, N.J., for more than 40 years. Mr Bradshaw and his wife were presently residing at Maplewood of Newtown.
In addition to his wife of 56 years, survivors include two daughters, Donna Bradshaw Djonne, and her husband, Per, of Sandy Hook and Judith Stone Moeller, and her husband, Roger, of Bethlehem; and six grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Joan Thoma Hinton and brother-in-law, Bert, of Virginia Beach, Va.
A graduate of Wilkes Barre GAR Memorial High School in 1946, Frank received a BS degree in secondary education science from Mansfield State University (1950) and education masterâs sixth year degree in administration and supervision. His extended certifications were in elementary education and curriculum from Rutgers University.
Mr Bradshaw retired after a 38-year career in education that included teaching science as an adjunct professor at Kean University, principal of the Upper Freehold Elementary School, Allentown, N.J., and Dutch Neck Elementary School, West Windsor, N.J., and superintendent of Winfield Township (N.J.) School District.
He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany.
Funeral services were held May 28, at the Oak Lawn Cemetery Chapel, Wilkes-Barre. Interment with military honors followed.
Funeral arrangements were in the care of the Honan Funeral Home, Newtown.
