‘FROM HAND TO MACHINE’ TALK AT SMART MUSEUM JULY 20

CHICAGO, ILL. — The Smart Museum will present an illustrated lunch-hour talk, “From Hand to Machine: German and Austrian Design, 1890–1933,” on Friday, July 20, from noon to 1 pm.

The talk examines the changes in Twentieth Century German and Austrian design — from the Jugendstil and craft reform movement in Germany and the founding of the Secession in Austria to the creation of the Wiener Werkstätte and the Bauhaus — with Victor Margolin, professor of art and design, history of architecture and art at the University of Illinois, Chicago.
