CHICAGO, ILL. â The Smart Museum will present an illustrated lunch-hour talk, âFrom Hand to Machine: German and Austrian Design, 1890â1933,â on Friday, July 20, from noon to 1 pm.
The talk examines the changes in Twentieth Century German and Austrian design â from the Jugendstil and craft reform movement in Germany and the founding of the Secession in Austria to the creation of the Wiener Werkstätte and the Bauhaus â with Victor Margolin, professor of art and design, history of architecture and art at the University of Illinois, Chicago.
