‘AROUND TOWN’ ON VIEW AT TAFT MUSEUM OF ART

AVV 5-11 #699815

CINCINNATI, OHIO — The Taft Museum of Art presents the exhibition “Around Town: Nineteenth Century Books on Cincinnati,” on view through August 19.

From Daniel Drake’s early Natural and Statistical Views of Cincinnati, published in 1815, to History of Cincinnati, Ohio, with illustrations and biographical sketches by Henry A. Ford and Kate B. Ford, this small display features several illustrated books on Cincinnati that span the decades of the Nineteenth Century.

Among the books drawn from the Taft Museum of Art archives and private collections will be the rare 50th wedding anniversary album of Nicholas and Susan Longworth, who once lived in the home that is now the Taft Museum of Art. These historic volumes offer a picture of what life was once like in the Queen City, its landmarks and its history.

The Taft Museum of Art is at 316 Pike Street. For information, www.taftmuseum.org or 513-241-0343.
