Get Up Early To See The Sun

DANBURY — Western CT State University is offering the public an opportunity to enjoy a rare celestial event. The university will host a special viewing at its observatory to see the transit of Venus across the sun’s disk at sunrise (about 5 am) on Tuesday, June 8.

Participants can enter the observatory through Higgins Hall Room 216, then follow the stairs to the roof. Free “sun peeps,” which are safe solar viewing glasses, will be available for those who want to see Venus’ black dot with their eyes alone. This solar event will not repeat again until June 6, 2012.
